ASICS Gel-Rocket 10 Review
Review:
The ASICS Gel-Rocket 10 are very good all-round shoe. For quite a low price you get a complete shoe that offers great support while maintaining a high level of performance. Getting this balance right is the key to all well rounded court shoes and ASICS tend to find that line perfectly.
The aggressive grip pattern on the outer sole provides great traction for pushing off in any direction. This outer sole is extremely durable, ensuring the shoe lasts well. For the first few weeks I found the grip wasn't great because the outer sole was super hard and struggled to latch onto the floor. Once I wore in the shoes the grip began to soften up a little making for great traction. The gel cushion in the heel provides great comfort however there is less padding in the forefoot, which I found to be a bit of an issue as a lot of my on court movements result in force going through the front of my foot rather than the heel. Although the padding in the forefoot wasn't the best, it still gave good responsiveness in multiple directions. As in all ASICS shoes, the arch support in Gel-Rocket 10 was great and provided a comfortable base for the foot.
The mix of artificial leather and mesh made for a slightly heavier feel but provided great stability for both the mid foot and the heel. There was minimal foot movement inside the shoe when moving laterally which was a huge tick for my personal movement style. The heel section was well supported by thicker padding which helped lock my foot in. This also made my ankle feel very stable.
The Gel-Rocket 10 fit true to size and are very well designed to flow with your natural foot shape. This helped to avoid areas of high pressure or friction which made for a great fit.
The aggressive grip and rigid outer sole material lasted the full season comfortably while keeping good levels of traction. The tight upper shoe material kept its shape and allowed for a nice tight fit, reducing sliding within the shoe. The inner sole did get quite flat towards the end of the season which reduced the level of comfort. Overall the shoe remained in great condition over the season and showed minimal signs of wear.
The quality grip and firm inner sole made for a very responsive and high performing shoe. The protective shoe material and great design made for a long lasting, durable shoe. I think this is a complete product that offers great balance between stability and performance for a very low price.
