Nike Precision 6

Review

Review:

The Nike Precision 6 is a great shoe for a low price that offers excellent performance on the court. The shoe features a breathable lightweight mesh upper that offers good mobility and comfort. The responsive cushioning system enhances shock absorption and the outsole has a multidirectional traction pattern, ensuring excellent grip and responsiveness.

The traction pattern on the outer sole of the shoe offers some of the best grip I have ever experienced. As this shoe is technically a basketball shoe, it is designed for amazing grip on wooden floors. This carries over really well to grip on the taraflex flooring too. Having good grip is such a crucial aspect of being able to move dynamically on the volleyball court, and the Nike Precision 6 tick that box exceptionally. The outer sole has kept great traction for the 8 months I have been using the shoe. Its simple design ensures that there is a very low chance of the outsole peeling off the shoe in high use areas. This amazing grip combined with the stable fit offer maximum responsiveness for the athlete which is great for the agile movements required in volleyball. As present in the Nike Hyperace 2, the outer sole section on the upper lateral side sticks out slightly which offers more stability to the foot and prevents the ankle from rolling easily. Straight away I noticed this added stability and felt extremely confident when dynamically driving off in any direction.

The cushioning was great throughout the heel and forefoot sections while offering good amounts of arch support through the mid foot. After the first 5 months I began to notice the cushioning felt slightly flatter and fatigued. Because the shoe is relatively inexpensive I am not surprised that this began to happen as usually cheaper products don't last quite as long. The amazing grip allowed the the shoe to still be very responsive, however towards the end of the sessions I could start to feel the lack of cushion for my foot. It is important to note that I was training in these shoes 6 days a week so if you are only playing 2-3 times per week you will not notice this fatigue in the cushion until much later.

The breathable mesh and cushioned tongue made for a great feel for the top of the foot while locking down my foot. The firm padded heel section provides great stability to the foot and ensures that you don't slide within the shoe at all. This responsiveness is great for reactive lateral movement where you can take off straight away and drive confidently. The relationship between softer more comfortable materials and firmer reinforced sections provided perfectly for performance while not compromising on comfort.

The Precision 6 fits slightly bigger than my usual size. I chose to go a 1/2 size down which was perfect. The shape of the shoe is very accommodative to different foot shapes because of the wider toe box.

Because this is a cheaper shoe, the materials used are not of the highest quality making it slightly less durable. There were no signs of the grip deteriorating or detaching from the mesh material. I found that over time the inner sole lost some of its cushioning making for a flatter feel. Also the mesh material and the eyelets started to stretch making it a bit harder the get that tight forefoot lockdown that I had in the start. These things happen in all shoes and are considered general wear, however they did happen a bit sooner in these shoes.

Overall, I think the Nike Precision 6 is the best value for money shoe on the market. It offers elite grip, quality cushioning and responsiveness while maintaining a good shape and made of lightweight material to provide maximum performance for the athlete. It is important to understand that it is a cheaper shoe and you will notice some general wear over time. But the performance of the shoe is something of an upper level product and I think it is a great option for all athletes.
