Oakley Radar EV Path Review

Review:

Oakley is the leading brand in performance sunglasses and dominates the beach volleyball market. This is because they are the best!

The Oakley Radar EV Path feature a quality high performance lens that locks firmly into the strong plastic frame. Everything about these sunglasses is tailored towards performance. Their shape ensures you have complete lens coverage when looking in all directions and the frame wraps nicely around your face which helps prevent sand flicking into your eyes, or for the sunglasses to move when you are playing. The fit of Radar EV Path is exceptionally comfortable and Oakley have nailed the balance between a high performance product and exceptional durability.

I think the Radar EV Path lens is the best quality lens available. It is a polarised reflective lens with Primz which enhances certain colours to create a clearer contrast allowing you to pick up a moving object clearly. This is great for volleyball as it helps you locate the ball easily, especially as the sun can often make you lose sight of it sometimes. I have found that the lens provides an even colour when looking in all directions and optimises my vision on the court in a wide range of conditions from bright sun to partial and full cloud cover. I have used my Oakleys for 4 years now and the lens remains in great condition with no fading or blurred spots. It is possible to develop scratches on the lens over time if you do not clean and look after them.

The frame is made from a nylon composition which makes it extremely strong but still quite mobile. There is a good amount of flex throughout the whole frame which helps get a nice tight fit around your face while also ensuring that they are as unbreakable as possible. The arms click in to the front frame which is a great design feature. This creates a fail safe spot if too much load is put through the sunnies from a ball, allowing the arms to disconnect from their groove and avoid pressure going through other sections of the frame. If this happens the arms can just be clicked back into place. On the arms there is a soft rubber sleeve that grips nicely above your ears or on your hat to keep the sunglasses stable while jumping and diving. The nosepiece is made of the nylon composition that connects to the frame and helps lock the lens in place, while also having a soft rubber piece over the top that sits on your nose. This piece is super comfortable and a great shape that adds another point of contact to help keep the sunglasses in their optimal position while playing.

In very hot and steamy conditions I would sometimes notice the lens would fog a little. This was because of the limited airflow between the lens and my face. Oakley have come up with a fix for this by selling a spacer nose piece. This allows the fit and feel to be the same while sitting the lens very slightly further from your skin. This prevents the fogging in these conditions.

I have used the Radar EV Path for 4 years now and they have shown very minimal signs of wear along the frame and edges of the lens. Throughout these 4 years the performance of these sunglasses has not changed at all and remains just as high quality as the day I purchased them. The longevity you get out of your sunglasses is often determined by how well you look after them. The Radar EV Path comes with a protective hard case as well as a soft sleeve to assist you with this.

Oakley's quality manufacturing and design has produced a high performance product that lasts many seasons making it a worthwhile investment. Their quality lens and sturdy frame makes the perfect combination for beach volleyball sunglasses. The Oakley Radar Ev Path are absolutely my favourite pair of beach volleyball sunglasses and I could not recommend them enough.
